Legendary Lineage
Pam has taught Vinyasa Krama Yoga for over 35 years under the tutelage of her teacher, Srivatsa Ramaswami, who studied directly under the guardian of Yogi Sri. T. Krishnamacharya. She also taught exclusively for 11yrs for H H Swami Vidyadishananda the Vinyasakrama yogasana and pranayama for all his retreats and celebrations. The architectural practice of Vinyasakrama moves the body through artfully curated and equitable sequencing that is matched with a deep breath controlled, ujjayi pranayama. Krishnamacharya created this system of balanced movement and breath to bring his students to deeper awareness and a uniform energetic basis for meditation.
Our capacity to listen starts with the Breath. Become a connoisseur of the art of listening. Begin to notice how the micro circuity of your Breath unravels your nervous system, merges into your attitudes, thoughts and moods, and leads you to the present moment of meditation.
Deep Learning
“A Yogi studies yoga for the depth of the teaching not for show, but for vision.”
Start from where you are! Accept your body and mind and then begin. Set realistic goals by taking steady, small steps! In Yoga practices; breath is the crux of the teachings, it is the breath that sustains the body, and the breath that sustains the mind. Pranayama, is the ancient art of breathing, it is a practice used by yogis to clean the nadis, cultivate keen awareness, and bring oneself to the stillness of meditation.
The physical act of this deep ujjayi breathing you hear here is said to enhance the nitric oxide levels in the body, gets into your bones, flesh, glands, and bloodstream, as well as influence your subtle levels of consciousness. The repeated movement of the arms over the head boosts cardiac and lymphatic actions. Dare to go slow, repeat, fine tune, master; allow the micro circuity of your breath to unveil the scientific codes and innate cosmic intelligence within to bring you to the true home of your own mind and heart.
In this Vinyasa Krama teachers training the students are learning how to integrate with precision, the movement of the body, breath, and mind to direct their perceptions to the sensory realms, attaining a unified state of attention, ease, and harmony. Vinyasa means variation of one movement into the next - krama to place in a specific order. Vinyasa Krama uses numerous variations of time and postures to prepare the body for the full exploration of pranayama practices. This yoking of the breath, body, and mind are the goals of ancient classical Yogic practices that allow us to trust sources that are greater than matter.
